Lockout Tagout
Helping Utility Companies with their valve operations
Utility supply companies everywhere face the challenge of providing continuous water supply, whether it’s a normal day or in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.
Companies will do their best to uphold the social distancing guidelines, but this can be difficult when the job task requires the efforts of two people.
Turning water supply valves in remote locations is a good example of where many hands make light work.
But now this task can be readily undertaken by a single worker. Using a Modec Portable Valve Actuator from Total Lockout means that a single worker can arrive at the job location safe in the knowledge that he or she will be able to easily turn the valve without third party help, and without the risk of strain injury.
The latest range of portable actuators includes lightweight but extremely powerful cordless battery actuators which are small to store but pack a real punch in turning torque.
Where valves are located below ground, managing counter-torque can be a challenge. But Total Lockout offer a torque reaction bar which supports the actuator and links to a vehicle towing hitch. This way, the counter-torque is transferred directly to the van or car chassis and no load is applied to the operator.
