Managing torque when using a portable valve actuator
With each new portable valve actuator application we encounter, there’s new challenges to manage torque.
As the portable actuator turns the valve, any tight spots or increase in effort required to turn the valve will result in the portable actuator trying to rotate in the opposite direction.
For a recent customer order the valve stems emerged up through a grated walk-way. There was no where to anchor the actuator on the valve. Always innovative, the Total Lockout design team contrived torque reaction by using the handrail of the walk-way. To ensure the actuator remains rock steady during operation, the collar of the actuator is anchored to the hand rail via a flexible arm/joint which latches on to the hand rail.
