Lockout Tagout
Looking for a versatile, universal valve locking device?
It’s often overlooked but this lockout device from Brady is virtually completely universal, meaning it can lockout any size of manually operated valve.
This is achieved via the base clamping unit, available in two sizes – small and large.
The base clamping unit has a rotating knob which is used to tighten the locking/clamping jaws onto the lever of the valve, or the rim of a valve wheel. In the case of lever operated valves, locking arms are added to the assembly which can be positioned to butt-up against the valve body, preventing the valve lever from turning. Adding a lockout padlock enables the whole assembly to be securely locked in place.
When it’s used for locking wheel operated valves the locking arms are replaced with a length of cable. The cable is wrapped around the body of the valve or other fixed item closely. The cable then passes back into the locking assembly and secured in place by the clamping knob and padlock.
You certainly couldn’t describe it as streamline or ergonomic. But all that doesn’t matter when it comes to protecting lives of potentially hazardous process equipment. Follow the links to see more details of the large and small versions.
